COURSE OVERVIEW
IWSD is offering an advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and
Learning for Humanitarian and Development WASH and Livelihoods Programming which aims to
contribute towards learning and accountability within projects, programs and organizations.
This course will set out fundamental principles for an operational M and E system and their differences between contexts, such as humanitarian, developmental, simple and complex programs or
organizational setups. Moreover, the course will detail practical steps to ensure that MEAL information is effectively used for management decisions, learning and accountability.
PARTICIPANTS
The course draws participants from the development and humanitarian sectors particularly those
who are into WASH and/or Livelihoods programming from government institutions, para-government institutions, private sector and civil societies. It is of extreme relevance for those who are
responsible for planning, implementing or managing MEAL systems within their organizations,
programs or projects.
METHOD OF DELIVERY
The Post-Graduate Diploma in Advanced Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning for Humanitarian
and Development WASH and Livelihoods Programming course is a modular hybrid course involving distance learning, face to face learning and online lessons. The course is delivered over 10
months shared over two Semesters.
In addition to the six in-depth modules, all participants will participate in a WASH Hackathon
exercise where they will collaborate to identify an existing monitoring and evaluation challenge,
design and implement a practical MEAL system that will be subjected to scrutiny by a multi sec
toral team of experts.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Normal Entry-First degree in any social science, engineering, education, accounting, ICT, business, applied sciences or natural sciences domains or equivalent
Special/Mature Entry -applicants must have at least a national diploma or certificate in social
science, engineering, education, accounting, ICT, business, applied sciences or natural sciences
coupled with at least 3 years of experience
