SANITATION AND WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH UNIVE​RSITY OF ZIMBABWE (UZ)

COURSE OVERVIEW 
IWSD is offering a Post-Graduate/ Professional Certificate in Sanitation and Wastewater Management. The course comes at a time when the country has set high targets on sanitation for the National Development Strategy 1 & 2. The targets are also supported by SGDs targets for WASH. There is thus a need for deliberate effort to provide a platform for WASH sector personnel to interrogate the current sanitation service and products in the face of urbanization and climate change effects. This course will set out fundamental modules for Sanitation and Wastewater Management systems and their differences between contexts, which are humanitarian, developmental, simple and complex settlements. Moreover, the course will detail climate smart technologies that are avail able for communities in different contexts to select from. Modules include Environmental Chemistry, Public Health, Sanitation Technologies, Basic Mapping for Water and Sanitation Management. 

PARTICIPANTS
The course draws participants from the development and humanitarian sectors particularly those who are into WASH programming, urban and rural planning, environmental and public health from government institutions, para-government institutions, private sector and civil societies. It is of extreme relevance for those who are responsible for planning, implementing, managing or regulating sanitation service provision within their organizations, programs or projects. 

METHOD OF DELIVERY 
The Post-Graduate Certificate in Sanitation and Wastewater Management course is a modular hybrid course involving distance learning, face to face learning and online lessons. The course is delivered over 5 months. The course has four in-depth modules. 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Normal Entry-First degree in any social science, engineering, education, environmental or public health, applied sciences or natural sciences, urban and rural planning domains or equivalent Special/Mature Entry -applicants must have at least a national diploma or certificate in social science, engineering, education, environmental or public health, applied sciences or natural sciences, urban and rural planning coupled with at least 3 years of experience 

CAREER PROSPECTS
This course is for improving knowledge and skills for sanitation and wastewater management in the urban and rural development for both humanitarian and development contexts. Application in progress for the January Intake.
